Binaka Airport

Binaka Airport serves Nias Island in North Sumatra, home to one of the world's most legendary surf breaks at Lagundri Bay and a rich megalithic cultural heritage. The airport is located approximately 19 kilometres north of Gunungsitoli, Nias's main town. Charter seaplane services can land directly at Lagundri Bay, bypassing the airport entirely for surf-focused travellers. Nias is renowned not only for its epic right-hand surf wave but also for its traditional stone-jumping ceremonies — Fahombo — and ornate ancestral clan houses. The airport handles domestic flights from Medan and connects the island to the wider Sumatra network.
